Based on phonon/photon energy band theory, artificial band-gap materials achieve novel physical effects and excellent properties beyond natural materials through artificial microstructure design and energy band regulation, which has become an important research direction of next-generation smart materials and digital materials. Our team has been committed to the design, preparation and application research of artificial microstructure materials, exploring the tailoring and regulation methods of phonon and photon band. Based on a series of new principles and effects such as "acoustic diode", "acoustic double negative refraction" and "optical one-way propagation", we are focusing on the theory, material and device research of "topological phonon" and "spin acoustics". The acoustic topological insulator materials and prototype devices have been realized in aeroacoustic, elastic wave, piezoelectro-acoustic surface wave and three-dimensional system, which is expected to make breakthroughs in the fields of electronics, communication, non-destructive testing, vibration and noise reduction, etc.

In terms of application research, the team has independently developed a series of new methods and technologies such as acoustic absorption and noise reduction ultramaterials, vector acoustic detection, ultra-fast photoacoustic nondestructive testing, etc., and successfully developed industrial-application ultramaterials, micro and nano devices and high-end instruments and equipment, which have been closely combined with artificial intelligence, big data and microelectronics technology, and achieved substantial breakthroughs in a number of key technologies. It is carrying out engineering applications in major fields such as aircraft, high-speed rail and integrated circuit, solving the technical bottleneck that is difficult to break through with traditional materials and methods, and truly realizing "writing papers on the land of the motherland".
